An early morning run is meaningful if you are training for a good cause. Help raise awareness and money for ComXo’s Charity Event “Lockdown 500”!

The idea comes from our Director of Sales, Paul Roake. The aim is to fundraise, in partnership with Berkshire Community Foundation for Autism Berkshire.

The Story so far…

In 2019, ComXo celebrated its 30th anniversary and to mark this occasion, we have set up the ComXo Charity Community Fund, with the aim to support our local charity organisations.

Last year we have supported Datchet Corona Volunteers, a local charity that provided freshly home cooked meals to the Key Workers, elderly and the vulnerable of our village during the peak of COVID-19 outbreak.

2021 ComXo’s Lockdown 500

This year, ComXo is kicking off the year trying to raise money for Autism Berkshire, a leading autism charity in Berkshire, it delivers quality specialist services, training and social and leisure activities throughout the county, guided by a team of trustees with personal and professional experience of autism.

This is a cause close to ComXo’s hearts, as some of our members are affected in one way or another with autism.

During these challenging times, it is just that much harder for these families.

Reports from Autism Berkshire reveal that COVID-19 has had a particularly big impact on them; there has been a significant increase in levels of anxiety, sleep difficulties and alcohol consumption among carers, with many describing a strong fear of becoming ill themselves, and of the impact this might have on their autistic child.

This is why it is so important, now more than ever to help them: Autism Berkshire has been providing all round support to families affected, through online workshops and by providing advice and resources, as well as giving advice on how to cope with anxiety, looking after mental health and wellbeing during these challenging times.

Running, walking, skipping along with Paul for a good cause!

Paul plans to cover 500 miles by the end of Lockdown 3 (around end of March).

We will welcome everyone who would like to run, walk or skip along with him!

Invite friends and families to cover as many miles as possible before the end of lockdown and promote sponsorship from your friends and families…

Let’s make this viral and get the support and awareness echoed to the whole community!

And… in Winston Churchill’s words: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
